FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Gallery 2727 Presents "Labor of Love" Art Exhibition

Berkeley, CA – Gallery 2727 is pleased to announce the upcoming art exhibition, "Labor of Love," showcasing the works of Gallery 2727 artists. The exhibition will run from January 31 to February 23, 2025, at Gallery 2727, located at 2727 California Street, Berkeley, California 94703.

"Labor of Love" is an exhibition that celebrates the joy and fulfillment that comes from creating something for the sake of passion. While funding is an undeniable and welcomed patronage, Labor of Love is work done first and foremost for pleasure. This exhibition recognizes that creativity has the power to center, heal, expand horizons, and fulfill. Labor of Love can take many forms: it can be enduring, a persistent pursuit of one's passions; problem-solving, finding innovative solutions to complex challenges; building bridges, connecting people, places, and ideas; traveling, exploring new landscapes and experiences; or self-love, nurturing one's own well-being and creativity. The artworks on display reflect what the artists love, what they love to do, or works they love making.

"We are thrilled to present 'Labor of Love' at Gallery 2727," said gallery artist Michael Sacramento. "This exhibition is a testament to the transformative power of art to bring people together, inspire creativity, and foster a sense of community."

An opening reception will be held on January 31 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, providing an opportunity for visitors to meet the artist and experience the exhibition firsthand. Admission to the exhibition and reception is free and open to the public.

About 2727 Artist Co-op: We are a collective of local artists exhibiting regularly at our space in Berkeley, CA. Formerly a corner store, the beloved neighborhood staple has transformed into a pillar of the arts in the community. The public regularly contributes to the space, exhibiting everything from visual to performing arts. Member artists regularly host exhibitions, displaying a diverse body of work that approaches the world from a number of perspectives. The space hosts free and low cost workshops, helping other artists refine their crafts and engaging  the local community in art-making.  Emphasis is on emerging artists, local artists, and artists from under-represented groups who have had less opportunity to show their work.

For our Labor of Love exhibition, Gallery 2727 is open to the public Fridays from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Gallery 2727 is committed to promoting innovative and thought-provoking art that fosters a deeper understanding of the world around us.

But the truth is, there are a wide variety of possibilities including watercolor pencils, water soluble crayons and pastels, ink, and more. In my art practice I mix materials to create imaginary worlds or internal landscapes. So much of how we talk about emotion has to do with a sense of place-- "out of the woods, all over the place, between a rock and a hard place." What might your sense of self or way of being in the world look like as a landscape?

2/23 3-5 pm: Closing reception. Bid farewell to the exhibition with light refreshments and a love-themed playlist
