Join us at our Ray@101 event featuring a movie Screening of The Big City (মহানগর) on Oct 21st from 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM PDT @2727californiastreet .This event will be a celebration of Bengali filmmaker and a stalwart of world cinema, Satyajit Ray's 101th Anniversary. the event will have a movie screening, a pre-screening exchange about his filmography and also a post-screening discussion of the film.
Satyajit Ray was a Bengali director, screenwriter, documentary filmmaker, author, essayist, lyricist, magazine editor, illustrator, calligrapher, and music composer. He was awarded the Oscar in 1992 as one of the greatest auteurs of film-making. Ray is among the dozen or so great masters of world cinema, and is known for his humanistic approach to cinema. He made his films in primarily in Bengali, yet his films are of universal interest. They are about things that make up the human race – relationships, emotions, struggle, conflicts, joys and sorrows. He remains one of the stalwarts of World Cinema.
