On March 30, Saturday 6-8 the art exhibition Secret Garden will have a closing party and dance event.
The event will begin with half hour of food, drink, and art appreciation. At 6:30, the installation “Unseen Folk by Francesca Borgatta will be used as the basis of a dance improvisation. The installation features a table-top landscape and 14-16 stick puppets portraying dryads, fairies, bogpeople, and other creatures part human and part tree. A Butoh dance group will animate the figures in their aspects- flying, circle dancing, and appearing/disappearing. Then the audience will be invited to try the puppets and explore their movement. Any time left will be for our own dancing and enjoyment. This will be a delightful and unusual experience for all.
Note- Butoh dancing is a Japanese avant garde dance-form requiring precise control of body movement and an innovative use of the surrounding space and manipulation physical objects. Master Hiroko Tamano's Berkeley Butoh group combines artists, musicians, and dancers.
